Overview
Stitch by Stitch is a letterpress poster series centered around the traditional craft of appliqué, which originated as a method of mending fabric. The project uses this craft as a metaphor for resilience, healing, and recovery, paralleling women’s journeys through personal struggles, trauma, and societal challenges. The posters explore how fragmented pieces come together to form a unified whole, symbolising strength, resilience and transformation.
Approach
The designs integrate textured appliqué backgrounds with layered typography, visually representing the process of rebuilding and self-renewal. The slogan “Stitch by Stitch” is carefully composed to convey perseverance and hope, placed over tactile surfaces that evoke the craft’s hands-on nature. The interplay between the fragmented fabric patterns and cohesive text creates a visual narrative about overcoming adversity and finding beauty in renewal.
