Overview
Make and Break is a series of letterpress typographic posters inspired by the cyclical nature of the creative process, where ideas, materials, and beliefs are constantly built up and dismantled. The series explores themes of transformation, ambiguity, and broken communication, visually reflecting the complexity and tension inherent in making something new.
Approach
The posters employ experimental typesetting, fragmented color streaks, and masking techniques to convey disruption and ambiguity. Words are partially hidden, disjointed, or distorted to challenge the viewer’s understanding and encourage active engagement. The phrase “Make and Break” appears subtly within the design, pushing viewers to piece together meaning from fractured visual cues and an intentionally disjointed textual language.
